Shannon O’Malley is a San Francisco-based artist and tour guide who uses humor to reckon with social convention and its contradictions.
Her first picture-book, Apocalypse Cakes: Recipes for the End, uses the cookbook form to honor and critique real and imagined apocalyptic eventualities. Her second book, Gay Men Draw Vaginas, presents hundreds of vaginas drawn by random gay guys from around the world.
Her latest project, the San Francisco Coloring Book series, uses collage, photography and illustration to tell stories about neighborhoods through which she gives tours.
